As Prescribed is an artist driven t-shirt label that aims to be a platform for exposing artists and designers to the universe. Founded by Melbourne based illustrator Eveline Tarunadjaja and designer Nick Parker, As Prescribed takes on the form of an art gallery, in an online retail environment.
Nick and Ev curate each series of tees like a gallery would curate an exhibition. Having some valuable networks within the world of art and design allows them to pull together some highly skilled artists and designers, making for some very unique and beautiful t-shirt collections.
The concept came about one day whilst Ev was drinking coffee and Nick was licking the chocolate from between his fingers from a well earned ice chocolate (vodka bar on chapel st… delicious). Back then, Nick was having a go at managing Ev as an artist, for which he was regularly paid in ice chocolates. They had been discussing the concept of starting a gallery, which would have been a somewhat appealing idea if it wasn’t for the amount of start-up cash they’d need. Nick had been pretty keen to start-up an online apparel label for sometime. So after a bit of deliberation and somewhere in the vicinity of 90,000 kilojoules later, they combined the two ideas and begun developing the concept. Shortly after, the idea of an online art gallery that provides unique art and design on t-shirts was formed.
One of the main points of difference is the strong focus on each artist. Because each series will only consist of 4-5 artists at a time, As Prescribed can take the time to really focus on the individuals involved. Wherever possible, short video’s of the artist’s are produced, offering a brief look into each of their worlds.
Hopefully with a bit of support, As Prescribed will grow to become an exciting platform for artists and everyone involved.
Thanks for stopping by!
